Early career Photographic Award wins, including AIPP Portrait Photographer of the Year 2007 and Australia’s Top Photographers’ Emerging Portrait Photographer of the Year 2010, opened doors for the Canberra boy when he landed in London in 2010. Stuart was also voted the top emerging advertising photographer by a panel of judges in Capture magazine in May 2013. These Awards allowed Stuart to work alongside some of today’s most inspiring Photographic Artist’s including Rankin, and gave him the opportunity to hone his own unique style.
Using his environment and lighting to enhance our experience and create a visual narrative around the subject, Stuart’s portraits are uniquely crafted and beautiful.
On a personal level, Stuart’s extraordinary portraits from Bouganville Paupa New Guinea, explore the subject of youth from a myriad of environments, sub-cultures, labor and life in this post-conflict region. A collection built out of multiple visits to the area, this wonderful series was exhibited in 2013 at The Black Eyed gallery. The National Gallery of Victoria and the Queensland Art Gallery acquired several portraits from this “Blood Generation” series in 2015.
